This is a plain-language summary of what MacroMoose collects and why. MacroMoose is a small, independent app in beta. If anything here is unclear, email hello@macromoose.com.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address, first name, and password (stored encrypted by our login provider, never readable by us).
- What you log: foods, meals, recipes, weigh-ins, and the goals you set.
- Body details you enter: height, weight, birth date, sex and activity level, used only to suggest calorie and macro goals.
- A profile photo, if you add one.
- Feedback you send from the app.
- Waitlist sign-ups: your email, name and anything you write in the form on this site.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers.
- We don't show ads.
- We don't use your food logs for anything except showing them back to you.
Services that help run MacroMoose
These companies handle data for us, only to provide the parts of the app listed:
- Supabase: stores your account and logs.
- Vercel: hosts the app and this website.
- Resend: sends account emails, such as password resets and beta invites.
- Anthropic: when you scan a nutrition label, the photo is sent to Anthropic's Claude to read the numbers. MacroMoose doesn't keep the photo.
- GitHub: feedback you send from the app is also saved in our private issue tracker so we can fix things.
- USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts: when you search for a food or scan a barcode, the search text or barcode is sent to these public food databases. Your account details are not.
Your choices
- Export: download everything you've logged as a spreadsheet from Settings.
- Delete: delete your account from Settings. This permanently removes your account and everything you've logged.
- Leave the waitlist: email hello@macromoose.com and we'll remove you.
Health information
MacroMoose is a tracking tool, not medical advice. The goals it suggests are general estimates. Talk to a doctor or dietitian before making big changes, especially if you have a health condition.
